Week 5 - Semaine 5

Lauriane

I’ve been wanting to photograph an elegant young lady in heels at the marina in the winter. When I mentioned this to Lauriane, she said yes right away, not knowing the adventure that was to come. When we arrived, we looked around for the right rock for her to stand on. Once we found it, we started to make our way to it when we discovered that the snow is pretty deep in some places. Poor Lauréanne ended up sinking in the snow to above her knees! Despite the mishap, she stepped up to the rock, changed her snow filled boots for her heels and stayed there for a few photos under the curious look of the nearby ice fishermen. Not only did she do that, she did it with a smile!

J’avais l’idée d’une photo d’une jeune femme élégante, en talons, photographié à la marina pendant l’hiver. Quand j’en ai parlé avec Lauriane, elle a dit oui tout de suite, mais elle ne savait pas ce qui nous attendais! En arrivant, on a fait le tour de la place pour trouver le bon rocher. Une fois trouvé, on a fait notre chemin pour la positionner et c’est là que nous avons découvert que la neige était pas mal profonde à certaines places. Pauvre Lauréanne s’est vu les deux jambes s’enfoncer dans la neige, juste qu’au dessus des genoux! Malgré cette expérience “frette”, elle a pris place sur le rocher, a remplacé ses bottes remplies de neige par ses talons hauts et a posé pour plusieurs photos sous le regard curieux des pêcheurs à glace, tout en gardant le sourire!

Week 1 - Semaine 1

This project almost didn’t happen.  On december 24, on Christmas eve, I was holding my D700 by the foot of the 70-200 lens, when the foot let go and my camera crashed onto my mother’s ceramic floor in the kitchen.  The body of the camera cracked and the camera didn’t work anymore.  Fortunately, a friend of mine lent me her D7000 so that I could do the shoot this week.  I only hope I get my camera back from Nikon soon!

This is my wife who wanted a winter portrait.  We went to the bird feeders in a nearby forest and took quite a few shots, many of which were really nice.  I had a tough time picking my favourite, but settled on this one.

Ce projet ne s’est presque pas materialisé.  La veille de Noël, le 24 décembre, je tenais ma caméra par le pied de ma 70-200 quand le pied a lâché et ma caméra est tombée sur le plancher de céramique.  Le boîtier a craqué et la caméra ne fonctionne plus.  Heureusement, une amie m’a prêtée sa D7000 et j’ai pu prendre ma permière photo du projet.

Mon épouse voulait un portrait hivernal, donc nous sommes allés aux mangeoires dans la forêt Boucher et nous avons faits plusieurs photos ensemble.  J’étais très heureux des résultats (elle aussi!) et j’ai eu un peu de misère à choisir ma photo de la semaine.  J’ai finalement choisi celle-ci.
